Groundhog Day

November 8, 2009

Remember that movie Groundhog Day? That's what it is like here. Everyday is the same routine. We get up early, work out, eat breakfast, call home, go to morning report, teach class (or sit through one), check equipment, eat lunch, check e-mail, prepare another class for the staff, go run the perimeter, eat dinner, call home again, watch movie, go to sleep. That's the day. Of course, when we have patients we are busy and that breaks the routine. I imagine its like being a firefighter. We are always on call, but there isn't much to do unless there is an emergency. Here are a couple of pictures of what we do in our spare time. The first one is using expired IV fluids to water some plants. The others are of various parts of the FOB. Oh, the last one is the governor of the Ghazni Province. It was an honor to meet him. We had treated some of his personal bodyguards a couple of days before.
